Windows 7 and 10 provides different file and folder attributes to change their access right. Mainly two types of attributes are there: [1] Read-Only, [2] Hidden Read-Only Shows whether the file or folder is read-only, if it is, the content of file/folder cannot be changed or accidentally deleted, right-click on any file or folder icon and select this check box to turn on the Read-only  attribute on, to prevent such abrupt happenings. You can compress files by any compressing software like WinZip or WinRAR to decrease its size so that they can be easily transferred to another computer over the Internet or network. A compressed folder is denoted by a zippered folder icon.  You can compress one or more files in a compressed folder by simply dragging them onto the compressed folder icon. When a file is compressed, a copy is used in the compression, and the original remains intact. To uncompressed, or extract a file from the compressed folder and open it as you normally would, or you can open a file directly from the compressed folder by double-clicking the Compressed File icon. When you open a file directly, Windows extracts the file when it opens and compresses it again when it closes.
