Introduction Notepad is a simple text editor for Microsoft Windows and a basic text-editing program which enables computer users to create documents. It was first released as a mouse-based MS-DOS program in 1983, and has been included in all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 1.0 in 1985. In other words Notepad is a text editor application that comes with Windows. Notepad is used to keep text, but it does not support any advanced text formatting. The files generated by Notepad are mainly known as text files. The default extension of Notepad files is (.TXT). To open Notepad go for Windows Button => Then Type Notepad . You can compress files by any compressing software like WinZip or WinRAR to decrease its size so that they can be easily transferred to another computer over the Internet or network. A compressed folder is denoted by a zippered folder icon.  You can compress one or more files in a compressed folder by simply dragging them onto the compressed folder icon. When a file is compressed, a copy is used in the compression, and the original remains intact. To uncompressed, or extract a file from the compressed folder and open it as you normally would, or you can open a file directly from the compressed folder by double-clicking the Compressed File icon.
