Introduction
Notepad is a simple text editor for Microsoft Windows and a basic text-editing program which enables computer users to create documents. It was first released as a mouse-based MS-DOS program in 1983, and has been included in all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 1.0 in 1985. In other words Notepad is a text editor application that comes with Windows. Notepad is used to keep text, but it does not support any advanced text formatting. The files generated by Notepad are mainly known as text files. The default extension of Notepad files is (.TXT). To open Notepad go for Windows Button => Then Type Notepad. The Notepad Window will appear.
Another Method

About Notepad
This window consists of Title bar, Scroll Bars and Text keeping area. To format text, choose the Edit Menu => Set Font option. Here you are able to change only Font face, Font size and Font style. Notepad does not support any Ruler. If you want to write any content from a new line, you have to press Enter Key.
Notepad offers only the most basic text manipulation functions, such as finding text. Only newer versions of Windows include an updated version of Notepad with a search and replace function. However, it has much less functionality in comparison to full-scale editors.
Notepad was added to the Microsoft Store in August 2019. Though Notepad will still be included in Windows out of the box, as of Windows 10 version 20H1, Notepad will no longer be a component of the operating system and updated through the bi-yearly Windows 10 version updates, and will instead be a separate application receiving updates through the Microsoft Store. This will allow updates to the app to be delivered more frequently.Notepad new features
Notepad in Windows 10 gets the following new features:
- Shortcut to delete previously typed word
- Status bar
- Wrap-Around
- Text zooming
- Search text with Bing in Notepad
- Support for the UNIX-style End Of Line (EOL) Characters.
Notepad does not require a lock on the file it opens, so it can open files already opened by other processes, users, or computers, whereas Word-pad cannot. Notepad accepts text from the Windows clipboard. When clipboard data with multiple formats is pasted into Notepad, the program only accepts text in the CF_TEXT format. This is useful for stripping embedded font type and style codes from formatted text, such as when copying text from a web page and pasting into an email message or other WYSIWYG text editor. Formatted text can be temporarily pasted into Notepad, and then immediately copied again in stripped format to paste into the other program.
